Meet Our Principal
Mrs. Katie Francis
Mrs. Francis was raised in Escalon and attended Modesto Junior College and CSU Stanislaus where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. Additionally, she completed the teaching credential program at CSU Stanislaus, during which time she served as a student-teacher at Nile Garden Elementary School before being hired as a MUSD educator in 2006.
She continued her education by earning an Administrative Services Certificate and Credential from National University & UC Irvine. Mrs. Francis has experience teaching different grade levels and has previously served as a program coordinator, vice principal, and Summer Learning Academy principal. Her entire professional career has been with Manteca Unified School District.
As she transitions into her new role as Shasta Elementary Principal, she is grateful for her support system, specifically her husband Richard and children Wyatt and Hannah. She understands it takes a village to raise a child and is thankful for her family as they play an essential role in her success as both a parent and school administrator.
I am committed to focusing on safety, equity, and teaching essential standards for all students to meet their growth and achievement goals. Using multi-tiered systems of support, our students will have opportunities for academic and behavioral intervention and positive reinforcement. I know that teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, clerks, administrators, and school staff members working together WILL continue to create a positive environment where our Hornets feel safe and achieve learning goals.
